The Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA) is the chief piece of legislation governing your workplace – but it's far from a static piece of legislation. The ESA is continually evolving, and HR professionals need to keep pace with these emerging legal changes.

This comprehensive two half-day online seminar explores everything from minimum wage to hours of work, vacations with pay, layoffs, leave of absences, emergency, maternity, parental and compassionate care leaves, and termination and severance pay. It will provide HR professionals with the foundation and tools to answer the day-to-day questions that arise in the workplace.

The first day of the program will cover:

  1. Introduction and Overview
  2. Public Holidays and Public Holiday Pay
  3. Hours of Work and Overtime
  4. Vacation Time and Vacation Pay

The second day will cover the following topics and issues:

  1. Leaves of Absence
  2. Termination and Severance Pay
  3. Complaints and Enforcements

With changes to the ESA, and the potential of future changes, this seminar is a timely opportunity for new HR professionals and experienced HR professionals alike with current and up-to-date information regarding the ESA.

What you'll learn from this session:

  • Introduction into employment law in Ontario
  • Review recent changes to the ESA to stay current
  • Tips on how to maintain compliance proactively
  • How to deal with and respond to ESA-related complaints and enforcement
  • Work through practical problems
